Crayon, also known as Captain Hook, is set to release his latest single this Friday.

The Nigerian artist, who is known for his catchy hooks and bright pop melodies, has been making waves in the music industry since his debut in 2019. Crayon's journey to stardom began when he was signed to Mavin Records, one of Africa's biggest music labels. His debut EP, Cray Cray, was released in 2019 and featured the hit single So Fine, which he made by 4 a.m. in the morning.

Despite facing numerous challenges, including four attempts at the UTME and struggles with depression, Crayon remained determined to pursue his passion for music.

In 2022, Crayon gained widespread recognition with the release of the Mavin posse-cut Overdose, which featured his signature poppy hooks and earned him the nickname Captain Hook. The song became a massive hit, earning endorsements from trailblazers such as Wizkid and becoming Crayon's first number one record.

Crayon's growth as an artist is evident in his latest project, Trench to Triumph, which serves as a testament to his journey from humble beginnings to success. The album showcases his unique blend of Afrobeats, hip-hop, and R&B, and features collaborations with notable artists such as Rema and Bella Shmurda.

In an interview with OkayAfrica, Crayon discussed his evolution as an artist and his commitment to defying genre expectations. "I want to show people that you can be versatile and still be true to yourself," he said.

Crayon prepares to release If I Be You, fans can look forward to a new chapter in his musical journey. With his infectious energy, raw vulnerability, and undeniable talent, Crayon is poised to continue making a significant impact in the music industry
