Charly Boy slams Oba of Benin for saying God ordained Tinubu to be president
Veteran singer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has taken a swipe at the Oba of Benin for his recent declaration regarding the presidential aspirations of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Oba of Benin, who visited Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the weekend, was quoted as saying, "God has ordained that Tinubu would become President of Nigeria."
Expressing his dissatisfaction with the monarch's statement, Charly Boy took to his Instagram page to air his views. In a post, he questioned the Oba's decision to leave his palace and travel to Lagos, stating, "See Oba wey no suppose leave him Palace travel come Lagos."
Charly Boy further criticised the monarch's assertion that God had ordained Tinubu's presidency, calling it "nonsense talk" and raising concerns about the political manipulation of traditional institutions.
In his Instagram post, Charly Boy wrote, "Which kain nonsense talk Oba of Benin dey yarn? God ordain Tinubu as Nigerian President? Come ooo, who dey sponsor the Oba, dis one leave him palace to come yarn nonsense for Lagos, e get why."
