Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has achieved another milestone in her rapidly rising career, as her sophomore album The Year I Turned 21 has surpassed 500 million streams on Spotify.

This feat makes her the first African female artist to reach this threshold, solidifying her position as one of the continent's leading music exports.

Released in May 2024, the 15-track album received widespread critical acclaim for its innovative blend of Nigerian pop and global influences. Additionally, with guest appearances from top artists like Asake, Giveon, and Coco Jones, the album has enjoyed significant commercial success. Also, it has set records for the biggest opening day and week for a Nigerian female artist on Spotify.

Meanwhile, the album's success is largely driven by the popularity of Santa, her collaboration with Rvssian, which has garnered over 339 million streams. Lastly, this achievement brings Ayra Starr closer to the 2 billion streaming mark on Spotify. It further cements her status as a rising star in the global music industry.
