Nigeria's Afrobeats dominance shines on Spotify's 2023 most streamed songs in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In a testament to the global ascent of Nigerian mainstream music, Afrobeats has asserted its influence on Spotify's most streamed songs in sub-Saharan Africa for 2023. The top 10 list boasts an impressive representation of eight Nigerian songs, underscoring the genre's continuous impact across the continent.

Ruger's chart-topping single, Asiwaju, emerges as the leader on the list, solidifying its hit status across various African regions. Following closely at number 2 is Ayra Starr's international success, Rush, which not only garnered acclaim but also secured her a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance.

Renowned artist Asake claims the fourth spot with his captivating single Lonely At The Top, taken from his sophomore album, Work of Art. Omah Lay, recognised as one of the most streamed artists in sub-Saharan Africa for 2023, secures the fifth position with his hit track Soso.

Davido, a heavyweight in the Nigerian music scene, stands out as the only artist with two entries on the list. His singles Feel and Unavailable grab the sixth and seventh spots, respectively, highlighting his enduring popularity.

The comprehensive list also includes Tyler ICU's Mnike featuring DJ at number 3, Libianca's 'People' at number 8, Burna Boy's Last Last at number 9, and BNXN's GWAGWALADA featuring Kizz Daniel and Seyi Vibez at the tenth position.

As Afrobeats continues its remarkable journey onto the global stage, Spotify's 2023 rankings affirm Nigeria's significant influence in shaping the musical landscape of sub-Saharan Africa.
