Asake becomes the most streamed artist of the year on Boomplay in 2023

Boomplay's recently released 2023 Recap List has positioned hitmaker Asake as the most streamed artist of the year.

His album Mr. Money With the Vibe secured the second spot for the Most Streamed Album, following Davido's Timeless.

Asake, who gained mainstream recognition in 2022 with the hit single Omo Ope, continued his meteoric rise in 2023 with the release of his highly successful sophomore album, Work of Art. The album featured hit singles like 2:30 and Amapiano, the latter earning a nomination for Best African Performance at the 2024 Grammys. Another notable track, Lonely At The Top, further contributed to Asake's chart-topping success.

The Boomplay recap for 2023 unveiled Asake as the most streamed Nigerian artist, surpassing other notable figures like Seyi Vibez and megastar Davido.

According to Boomplay's data, global singing sensation Ayra Starr claimed the title of the most streamed female artist in Nigeria. Joining her on the list were Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage and gospel music star Mercy Chinwo.

The rising artist category witnessed 2023 breakout star Shallipopi securing the top spot as the most streamed rising artist, alongside hip-hop stars ODUMODUBLVCK and Spyro.

Omah Lay's Soso emerged as the most streamed song in Nigeria, with Adekunle Gold's Party No Dey Stop also making a notable appearance on the list.

Boomplay's recap showcases the dynamic and diverse landscape of the Nigerian music scene, highlighting the achievements and popularity of artists across various genres. Asake's dominance in the streaming charts underscores his significant impact on the industry in 2023.
