American rapper 21 Savage has stunned fans with the announcement of a new album titled What Happened To The Streets?, set for release this Friday, December 12, 2025.

The unexpected reveal has sparked huge anticipation across the hip-hop world, coming just a year after the success of his Billboard-topping 2024 project, American Dream.

The announcement arrived through a dramatic trailer posted on the rapper’s Instagram page. The black-and-white clip, dark and cinematic, follows a lone figure walking through an alley while snipers close in from rooftops. A rapid montage of chaotic scenes; guns, flames, and symbolic imagery, plays against an intense orchestral score before the screen cuts to the album title and release date.

The album artwork, designed by London-based Nigerian contemporary artist Slawn, was also unveiled. The visual rollout extended to Art Basel Miami, where Slawn and 21 Savage presented a massive inflatable sculpture featuring Slawn’s upside-down clown motif paired with the rapper’s signature dagger symbol. The installation, transported on a truck branded with the acronym "WHTTS," marked the first public hint at the project.

Streaming platforms list the album as a 14-track body of work, though no singles, snippets, or tracklist details have been shared. The surprise-drop strategy has fueled online speculation about possible features, themes, and sonic direction.

The title What Happened To The Streets? hints at a return to the raw storytelling and street-rooted reflections that shaped 21 Savage’s early music. Industry analysts say the timing and secrecy fit into the rapper’s long-running effort to maintain mystique while reclaiming a darker, more reflective tone.

This will be 21 Savage’s first full-length album since American Dream, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and produced multiple chart entries. In 2025, he has kept a relatively low profile, appearing only on Summer Walker’s Get Yo Boy and making a cameo on Travis Scott’s Jackboys 2 mixtape.

With the album arriving in just days, excitement is building among fans and fellow artists, many of whom reacted to the announcement on social media. The project will be released under Slaughter Gang and Epic Records.
