Tanzanian Artists Pay Tribute To The Late John Magufuli
Following the devastating announcement of the passing of President John Pombe Magufuli, artists in the Tanzanian Bongo music industry came together to mourn the loss of their beloved president.
In a statement released by Vice-president Samia Suluhu, Magufuli died on Wednesday evening following a cardiac arrest.
The late president made a significant impact on the music scene such as uniting music and politics with music friendly policies that made shooting music in Tanzania easy. Now, bongo musicians can access venues that were once inaccessible due to high shooting fees.
Magufuli also moved the Copyright Society of Tanzania (COSOTA) from the Ministry of Industry and Trade to the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports. This realignment was meant to ensure musicians are well compensated for their work.
Several stars took to their socials to remember the leader as well as create music tributes to thank the great works that he has accomplished.
