AFRIMMA music awards prides itself in celebrating music of African descent. This ranges from Afrobeats, Bongo Flava, Genge, Kwaito, Assiko, Decale and many others.  Every year, top African talents across the world come together on one stage to celebrate African music and culture. This year, the global event went virtual from Dallas, Texas hosted by WFAA’s Tashara Parker.

With the theme of the 7th edition of the AFRIMMA music  being ‘Destination Africa’, the performing artists did not fall short in showcasing Africa's diverse musical heritage. Representing East Africa were Kenya's Akothee, Nadia Mukami  and Ugandan superstar Eddy Kenzo giving electrifying performances not forgetting the outstanding exhibitions from across the continent.

This year's East African winners included Nandy who won Best Female Musician in East Africa contending alongside Zuchu, Maua Sama and Tanasha Donna.

Tanzania's Zuchu took home the well deserved award for the Best New Comer Award which she dedicated to her boss, Diamond Platnumz for being greatly instrumental in her success.

The Best Male Artist in East Africa was awarded to none other than Diamond Platnumz. This category was contended for by many greats including  Eddy Kenzo, Harmonize, Khaligraph Jones, Mbosso, Alikiba, The Ben, Gildo Kassa, Rayvanny and Otile Brown.
