Why T.I Blaze, Seyi Vibez and Shallipopi are calling out Dapper Music

Here is why former artists under the label, Dapper Music, Seyi Vibez, Shallipopi, TI Blaze and Zerry are calling out the founder of the label.

T.I Blaze, Seyi Vibez and Shallipopi have all publicly raised serious allegations against Dapper Music and its founder, Damilola “Dapper” Akinwunmi, reigniting questions about artist contracts, royalties, catalogue ownership and financial transparency in Nigeria’s music industry.

How it started

The latest controversy erupted on Friday, August 14, 2026, after T.I Blaze publicly called out Dapper Music, accusing the label of failing to properly account for revenue generated from his music and questioning the licensing of his intellectual property.

T.I Blaze alleged that about ₦1.2 billion in revenue had gone unexplained and questioned how Virgin Music became involved in the business relationship.

He also claimed that his contract with Dapper had expired and that he had waited approximately seven months for the matter to be resolved privately.

The singer further demanded the release of his catalogue, saying he was willing to settle what he described as an outstanding $185,000 balance. These figures and claims are allegations made by T.I Blaze and have not been independently established.

Seyi Vibez calls out Dapper Music

Shortly after T.I Blaze’s posts began circulating, Seyi Vibez, who previously worked with Dapper Music, entered the conversation and made his own accusations against the music executive.

Seyi claimed that money generated from his success was used to sign other artistes and alleged that Dapper had benefited significantly from his career.

He also warned artistes still associated with the label to be cautious, suggesting that they could eventually encounter similar problems.

Seyi’s intervention transformed what initially appeared to be a dispute between T.I Blaze and Dapper into a much broader conversation about the experiences of former Dapper Music artistes.

Shallipopi officially calls out Dapper Music

Shallipopi, another major former Dapper Music act, also accused the label of withholding money owed to him.

The singer claimed that Dapper had sold or transferred his catalogue without properly accounting to him and alleged that royalties from 46 songs remained outstanding.

He also threatened to report the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Shallipopi further alleged that his catalogue, along with those of other artistes, had been transferred to Virgin Music and questioned how the resulting revenue was handled.

These are allegations made publicly by Shallipopi; there has been no independent finding establishing the claims.

This isn’t the first dispute

In December 2024, Shallipopi officially announced his departure from Dapper Music and Dvpper Digital, alleging that his trust had been broken, his finances mishandled and his rights as an artiste disregarded.

He specifically alleged that Dapper Music and Dvpper Digital were connected businesses and that advances were obtained against his name and catalogue without his knowledge or approval.

He also said he had repeatedly requested access to financial records and alleged that he was being pushed into a deal that would allow the company to take 30% of his earnings even after their relationship ended.

Shallipopi subsequently established Plutomania Records, with Zerry DL and Tega Boi among the artistes associated with the label.

As of the latest reports available on August 15, 2026, Dapper Music and Damilola Akinwunmi had not publicly responded to the latest allegations from T.I Blaze, Seyi Vibez and Shallipopi.
