Ayra Starr becomes the fourth female artist to top the Afrobeats Power Ranking
Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has topped the NotJustOk Afrobeats Power Ranking for August 2026, becoming the fourth female artist to reach the No. 1 position on the monthly ranking. She displaces Burna Boy from the summit in her first appearance at the top of the ranking.
Three other female artists have topped the ranking since it was launched. South African singer Tyla was the first, reaching No. 1 in February 2025 and returning to the summit in December 2025. Ghanaian-American singer Moliy claimed the top spot in July 2025. Nigerian singer Tems has topped the ranking twice, in September 2025 and February 2026.
Ayra Starr's rise to No. 1 followed the release of her third studio album, Starrgirl, on August 14, 2026. The project drove her to the top of the ranking on the strength of album-wide streaming performance, led by her ZAYN collaboration Heaven Baby, which posted more than 937,000 daily streams on Spotify at its peak and debuted at No. 1 on the UK Official British Asian Music Chart.
The Mavin Records signee is one of the most globally decorated female Afrobeats stars of her generation, having earned two Grammy nominations at the 2024 Grammy Awards, including for Best New Artist.
