Barcelona president Joan Laporta has publicly confirmed that the Catalan giants are set to complete the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi.

Speaking while attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Dallas, Laporta expressed his delight over the deal, revealing that Barcelona had been monitoring the German international for a long time. The La Liga Champions are not looking to relax as they are building a squad depth as they hope to take a huge step in winning the UEFA Champions League.

Laporta said,

"We are so happy. He's a player we've been tracking for a long time. Adeyemi is very fast, a very good player. Deco did an excellent job."

The president's comments effectively confirm that the transfer is in its final stages after days of negotiations between Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund. There are reports that the two clubs have reached an agreement worth an initial €22 million, with performance-related bonuses that could increase the overall fee.

Adeyemi is expected to sign a five-year contract at Camp Nou after being granted permission by Dortmund to hold talks with Barcelona.
The 24-year-old winger has made it clear that Barcelona was his preferred destination, with head coach Hansi Flick playing a key role in convincing him to join the Spanish champions.
