Marc Cucurella's departure from Chelsea to Real Madrid marks the end of a memorable four-year spell at Stamford Bridge.

Cucurella joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2022, the Spanish international has been one of of the senior players at both highs and lows in West London, eventually establishing himself as one of the club's most reliable performers.

The defender’s energy, defensive intensity, and attacking contributions made him a key figure in Chelsea's recent successes, including their UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup triumphs.

Now, with a move to Real Madrid, Chelsea face the challenge of replacing one of their most experienced defenders. The transfer not only signals a new chapter for Cucurella but also forces the Blues to reassess their options at left-back as they look to rebuild and compete for major honours in the seasons ahead.

Who will replace Marc Cucurella at Chelsea?

(1) Andrea Cambiaso

The Juventus defender is currently the strongest name mentioned in reports. He can play as a left-back, right-back, or wing-back, making him an ideal fit for Chelsea's preference for versatile defenders. Reports suggest Chelsea view him as a direct successor to Cucurella.

(2) Jorrel Hato

Chelsea already have Hato in the squad and could choose an internal solution rather than spending heavily in the transfer market. The Dutch youngster is highly rated and capable of operating at left-back or centre-back. Reports indicate he would become Chelsea's main senior left-back option following Cucurella's departure.

(3) Lewis Hall

The English defender has been one of the most entertaining left-back in the Premier League and could be on his way back to Chelsea after he left Stamford Bridge two seasons ago.

Hall left Chelsea because he did not have enough playing time with the exit of Cucurella there might be room for the young defender.

(4) Alejandro Grimaldo

If Chelsea want a more experienced replacement, Grimaldo could be an attractive option. His attacking quality, crossing, and set-piece delivery would offer a different dimension from Cucurella.

(5) Theo Hernández

The AC Milan star would be a good signing. His pace, physicality, and attacking threat make him one of the world's best left-backs, though a deal would likely be expensive.
