Pep Guardiola speaks on Arsenal’s approach to corner kicks

Pep Guardiola has weighed in on Arsenal’s growing reputation as one of the most dangerous teams from set-pieces in the Premier League.

Guardiola was speaking ahead of a recent fixture, where the Manchester City manager acknowledged how much the modern game has evolved, particularly in the way teams now maximise corner kicks. Guardiola explained that set-pieces have become increasingly influential in deciding tight matches.

He pointed out that teams now commit more players into the box during corners, treating every delivery as a major opportunity to score. According to him, what was once considered a secondary attacking phase has now become a central tactical focus for many top sides.

He said,

"I have a specific opinion about that, and it remains to me”.

Guardiola did not single out Arsenal for criticism, his comments reflect the broader tactical conversation in English football. With matches often decided by fine margins, set-pieces especially corners are now seen as decisive moments rather than mere restarts.

Arsenal continue to perfect their routines, it’s clear that this aspect of the game will remain under the spotlight.
