Players with the most Premier League appearances

Former Liverpool player James Milner wrote his name into the history books of the English Premier League as he took the first position of players with the most appearances in the league.
The midfielder achieved this outstanding feat in the Premier League game between Brighton and Brentford on Sunday, February 22, 2026. However there have been some legends in the past that also played the most part of their career in the Premier League.
Over the years, only a select group of players have managed to cross the 500-appearance mark and even fewer have pushed beyond 600 games.
At the very top of the list is James Milner, who currently holds the record with over 650 appearances. Milner’s career has spanned multiple clubs including Leeds United, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Brighton. His versatility and professionalism have allowed him to remain competitive across two decades in England’s top division.
Just behind him is Gareth Barry, who made 653 appearances during his time with Aston Villa, Manchester City, Everton, and West Bromwich Albion. Barry’s consistency in midfield made him one of the most reliable performers of his generation.
In third place sits Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, who amassed 632 appearances, all for United, during a glittering career filled with league titles. Chelsea's Frank Lampard ranks fourth with 609 appearances. Completing the top five is former England goalkeeper David James, who featured 572 times for clubs including Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham, Manchester City, Portsmouth, and Bristol City.
Other notable names in the 500-appearance club include Gary Speed, Emile Heskey, Mark Schwarzer, Jamie Carragher, and Phil Neville. Each of these players built careers defined by resilience, adaptability, and sustained excellence.
