Injury rules out Real Madrid defender for three months

Real Madrid have been dealt another major setback after star defender Éder Militão was ruled out for approximately three months with a fresh muscle injury.

The Brazilian centre-back picked up a biceps femoris (hamstring) tear during Madrid’s disappointing defeat to Celta Vigo, forcing him off and immediately raising concerns within the club’s medical team.

The assessment from the team have now confirmed the severity of the problem, adding to the club’s mounting defensive worries. This latest injury is particularly heartbreaking for Militão, who had only recently regained rhythm and consistency after returning from another long spell on the sidelines.

The performance of the Brazilian has been crucial in stabilising Real Madrid’s back line, especially with the team battling through an intense period of fixtures..

For Real Madrid, the timing couldn’t be worse. With several other defenders also nursing injuries, the squad’s depth has been stretched thin. Ancelotti will now be forced to dig deeper into his options — possibly relying on makeshift solutions, promoting young defenders, or rethinking his tactical setup to manage the coming months. The January transfer window may even become an unexpected priority as his absence once again leaves a noticeable void

As things stand, Militão’s recovery timeline means he could miss key fixtures in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, potentially altering the team’s season trajectory. Madrid will be hoping for a smooth and swift rehabilitation, but for now, the Brazilian’s injury serves as yet another reminder of the demanding and unforgiving nature of elite football.
