Odumodublvck sparks nationwide debate with strong message to NYSC

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has ignited a fresh wave of national debate after publicly urging the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to suspend the deployment of corps members to states other than where they reside.
The artist made the appeal on Thursday, November 20, 2025, via a strongly worded post addressed to the scheme’s official X (Twitter) account.
Odumodublvck argued that the NYSC posting system, originally designed to promote unity, has become unsafe due to the country’s growing insecurity. His message captured the frustration felt by many parents and young graduates who fear the risks associated with inter-state travel and deployment.
“@officialnyscng PLEASE ITS HIGH TIME WE SUSPEND THE POSTING OF OUR YOUTHS TO DIFFERENT STATES OTHER THAN WHERE THEY ARE BASED… WITH THE STATE OF OUR COUNTRY ITS NOT SUSTAINABLE. PLEASE PITY THE PARENTS. KIDS ARE DYING. MOVE WITH THE TIMES,” he wrote.
His comments come in the wake of a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of prospective corps members heading to their orientation camp in Gombe, a loss that has intensified nationwide calls for a review of the scheme’s policies. The rapper’s statement also echoes wider concerns about abductions and violent attacks affecting travelers and students across several states.
Since its creation in 1973, the NYSC has required graduates under 30 to serve outside their home states to foster national integration. But the growing insecurity has led many Nigerians to question whether the program, in its current form, still prioritizes the safety of young people.
Odumodublvck’s post has since gone viral, drawing widespread support and placing renewed pressure on the NYSC and the Federal Government to reconsider how the scheme operates amid today’s realities.
