Davido reflects on risky beginnings as '5ive Alive' tour thrills Ibadan fans

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido took a nostalgic trip down memory lane on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, reflecting on his early, rebellious days as an aspiring artist while celebrating the massive success of his ongoing '5ive Alive' national tour.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Davido shared a personal story alongside footage from his recent sold-out performance in Ibadan, highlighting how far he has come since his first show in the city.
In 2011, a young Davido skipped school to perform on the Lynxxx and Friends Tour in Ibadan, recounting how friends Asa, Peju, B Red, and Sina picked him up from Babcock University. “I had no idea it was going to air on Soundcity, and when my pops saw it I got in so much trouble,” he wrote, recalling the risks he took for his passion.
Fast forward 14 years, and the global star returned to the same city to “destroy” the stadium with a high-energy performance, showcasing the growth of his career from a daring newcomer to an international headliner.
Beyond celebrating his personal success, Davido used the moment to call on fellow artists to invest in Nigeria and support local talent, thanking sponsors for backing the historic tour.
With the '5ive Alive' tour set to continue in Abuja and Lagos, Davido also revealed his upcoming international plans, announcing a headline show at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on November 20th to mark his birthday, promising a grand celebration for his global fanbase.
In 2011 I skipped school to perform in Ibadan. Asa, Peju, B Red and Sina picked me up from Babcock and we drove to join the Lynxxx and Friends Tour. I had no idea it was going to air on Soundcity, and when my pops saw it I got in so much trouble.
