Director Pink reveals what really happened behind the 'Abracadabra' remix shoot
Renowned Nigerian music video director, Director Pink, has shared new details about how she ended up leading the production for the Abracadabra remix video after Wizkid reportedly turned down the initial concept.
In a recent interview, the fast-rising director, known for her vibrant and creative visual storytelling, revealed that her involvement in the hit project, which brought together Wizkid, Skiibii, Rexxie, and Naira Marley, happened by chance.
“They said Wizkid didn’t like the first idea for Abracadabra, so I became the second option, even though I’m their guy,” she said with a laugh.
Despite the unexpected circumstances, Director Pink took full control of the Abracadabra set, overseeing four of Afrobeats’ most prominent stars. Reflecting on the experience, she joked about the dynamics on set, saying, “Had to control four men on set, Wizkid, Skiibii, Rexxie, and Naira Marley. Being a girl has its perks.”
The resulting music video for Rexxie’s Abracadabra remix was a visual triumph, bold, colourful, and full of energy, earning widespread praise from fans and industry insiders alike.
