Davido shares bizarre Instagram DM request from a fan
Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has sparked conversation online after sharing a rather unusual direct message (DM) he received on Instagram.
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Afrobeats hitmaker posted a screenshot of the message on his Instagram story, where a follower urged him to “stage a protest” by flying only commercial flights during his upcoming Nigeria tour.
The sender explained that the move should be done on behalf of event bookers and people who run commercial airlines, insisting that Davido’s frequent use of private jets has set an unrealistic standard for other artists. According to the message, if Davido agreed to fly commercial for just one month, it would “trend and humble every other artist,” reversing what the fan described as the “wahala” he allegedly caused in the industry.
The follower wrote in part: “David please can you do a protest on behalf of we that book artists for gigs and on behalf of people that commercial planes in general… just one month of you flying commercial flights for this your 9ja tour… it will trend and humble every other artist because na you cause all this wahala so you must reverse am.”
Davido, however, appeared far from bothered by the unusual request in his Instagram DM. His only response in the screenshot was a brief “Lmao” followed by five laughing emojis, showing he found the message hilarious.
Although it is highly unlikely the global star will act on the suggestion, the viral exchange shows both the pressures around image and lifestyle in Afrobeats and Davido’s lighthearted rapport with fans who aren’t afraid to make bold and sometimes bizarre requests.
