RB Leipzig's forward player Xavi Simons could be on his way to Tottenham Hotspur as against moving to Chelsea.

The Dutchman has been on the radar of Chelsea but the Blues stalled on the deal after they were not able offload either Christopher Nkunku or Nicolas Jackson. Chelsea needed the funds from either of both players to activate Simons transfer from Leipzig.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his official social media account that Tottenham have reached an agreement of £60 million with Leipzig for the player.

He said,

"Tottenham agree €60m fee with RB Leipzig for Xavi Simons. Official bid accepted, green light after Tottenham sent formal bid following player’s encouragement. Spurs want deal done today also on player side plus medical in the next hours."

Tottenham decided to move in swiftly on Simons after the missed out on every player that is available at their disposal. The latest player they failed to get was Eberechi Eze who made a switch to Arsenal depaite agreeing on a deal with Spurs.

Simons is keen to leave Leipzig this summer, and a move to the Premier League is reportedly his preference. It is understood that the player is in London to decide his future.

Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United for a deal worth £40 million with a 10 percent sale on clause included in the deal. They are also exploring a deal for Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez before Monday’s transfer deadline, which is said to be one of the reasons why Spurs moved for Simons.
