Enzo Maresca gives an update on Wesley Fofana's injury

Chelsea's head coach, Enzo Maresca has given an update on the injury situation of Wesley Fofana who could be out for a few weeks after picking up an injury.

The Italian confirmed in his press conference ahead of the league game against Southampton that Wesley Fofana could be out for a few weeks. According to Enzo Maresca, there is no update on the injury situation of Fofana but he could be out for a few weeks.

He said,

"We don't have any update at the moment. It happened two days ago so we need to wait a little bit. We are hoping to get some more news in the next days but for sure, he will be out for the next weeks, for sure."

When did Wesley Fofana suffer his injury?

The defender suffered an injury against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, December 1, 2024, after he stepped on a ball which led to him landing awkwardly.

He also spoke about the club's first-choice captain, Reece James' who has been out of action due to an injury. He is expected to be out for at least four to five weeks considering the type of his injury.

What did Maresca say about Reece James?

"He is the same situation [as Fofana], more or less. He's getting better but he still needs weeks to come back"

Chelsea are currently on the same number of points as Arsenal in third positions ahead of their league game against Southampton.
