Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage shares her thoughts on why Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy Burna Boy—often referred to as the "Big 3" of Afrobeats—are still relevant years after their debut.

Speaking on the Shopping The Sneakers podcast, Tiwa Savage lauded Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as prime examples of artists who have effectively forged lasting connections with their audiences.

“It’s not just about the music; it’s your fanbase and your brand,” Savage remarked. “You’ve to think of your fashion. You’ve to be relatable. A lot of times, artists are just putting out music; they are not really connecting with the fans," she said.

According to Savage, establishing real ties with fans goes beyond releasing hit tracks—it encompasses lifestyle, image, and authenticity. She credited Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy for mastering this approach, which keeps them consistently relevant, even during musical lulls.

“They love their lifestyles. Whether they are dropping a song or not, they are in the conversation. So it’s really important to build a fanbase. You are only as good as strong as your team,” Savage explained.

Her comments come as Afrobeats continues to expand its global influence, underscoring the need for artists to cultivate strong and loyal followings. Savage’s insight reinforces the idea that in today’s music landscape, success is as much about connection as it is about creativity.
