Manchester United confirms Ruben Amorim as its head coach

Manchester United have announced Ruben Amorim as its new head coach of the men’s first team, the appointment is subject to work visa requirements.

The news was confirmed on the official website of Manchester United on Friday, November 1, 2024. According to reports from the statement, he signed a deal with the Red Devils which will keep him until June 2027 with an option of an additional year.

United also confirmed that he will officially be unveiled to its supporters on Monday, November 11, 2024, once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club. Ruben Amorim will bring his wealth of experience to Old Trafford both as a player and coach, winning titles which includes the Primeira Liga twice in Portugal with Sporting CP; the first of which was the club’s first title in 19 years.

Who is Ruben Amorim?

The 39-year-old Portuguese international started his playing career with Benfica in 2003 and his coaching career with Olhanense in 2018 before he moved to Sporting Braga where he spent just one season before moving to Lisbon.
