Barcelona confirms the signing of Dani Olmo

Barcelona have completed the signing of Spanish midfielder, Dani Olmo from the Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig on a six-year deal which will keep him at the club at least until 2030.

Barcelona confirmed the signing of the forward player on its official website on Friday, August 9, 2024. According to the club, they have placed £500 million as the possible buy-out clause for the midfielder.

Dani Omo returns to Barcelona after an absence of a decade away from the club, the striker arrived at La Masia in 2007 from Espanyol. He has been exceptional for the four seasons that he spent in the Bundesliga where he won the German Cup twice and a German Super Cup in which he scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 win away at Bayern Munich.

What did Dani Olmo say about his move to Barcelona?

He expressed his joy and excitement during his first interview on the club's website.

He said,

"Seeing all the family here, and also my teammates… I thank you very much, everything happened very quickly. Also with Leipzig, I am grateful to them. I like the new stage I am in now. We are going to achieve everything. Multi-position, efficiency and quality. I already know a number of Barça players and played with them and now I look forward to getting to know and play with others like Frenkie and Lewandowski because they are high-quality players."

Dani made his debut for the full national side during qualifiers for Euro 2020, scoring on his first appearance. He represented his country at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics games winning a silver medal, at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 and in the recent Euro 2024 tournament where he was the top scorer with three goals for the victorious Spanish national side.played with many Barcelona players here. This arrival of Olmo is Barcelona's first official signing of the summer transfer window. The midfielder can play in a range of positions, including either wing and the No. 10 role. He starred in Spain's Euro 2024 campaign, sharing the Golden Boot after scoring three goals, including one in the semi-final against France, and providing two assists in six games at the tournament.
