Guardiola has clarified that he is closer to staying than leaving Man City in a recent interview. Pep stated, β€œI have said I am closer to leaving Man City… but I did ππŽπ“ say I’m leaving Man City! I’m ππŽπ“ ruling out absolutely that I sign a new deal.”

β€œI want to be sure it’s the right decision not just for me but for the players if they run no matter the competition… that is what I have to see. But yes, I love being here. In the summer of 2016, Pep Guardiola made his way to Manchester City, bringing with him his unique playing style and high standards from his winning seasons at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Although his debut season ended without a trophy, it was a moment of adjustment and laid the groundwork for future success.

The second season under Guardiola (2017–2018) was extraordinary. With an unprecedented 100 points, Manchester City won the Premier League and broke several records, including the highest number of wins (32), goals scored (106), and goal differential (+79). This year made City the clear front-runner in English football.

City remained unrivalled in the Premier League under Guardiola, they won the FA Cup and the League Cup in the 2018–19 season, and then went on to win the Premier League title, capping a domestic treble.

The 2022–2023 campaign was another historic one for City, as they won the FA Cup, the Premier League, and, at last, their first Champions League title. This was because of Guardiola's ability to modify and advance his strategies, City has remained the best team in both England and one of the best in Europe.
