Burna Boy responds to ID Cabasa’s comments on live band performance claims
Global sensation, Ebunoluwa Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has responded to remarks made by veteran music producer, Olamide Oguntade, better known as ID Cabasa.
The exchange was sparked by Burna Boy's comments during an Instagram Live session on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, where he praised several artists he respects in the music industry, naming 2Baba, D'banj, Wande Coal, and Timaya as his OGs.
Burna Boy, however, noted that while ID Cabasa might be considered an OG to other artists like Olamide, he does not see him as one. This comment followed ID Cabasa's criticism of a claim made by a man who stated that Burna Boy was the first artist to use a live band during performances. ID Cabasa refuted this, citing other artists who had incorporated live bands into their shows before Burna Boy.
The back-and-forth began when Burna Boy highlighted the artists he holds in high regard, excluding ID Cabasa from the list of his influences. In response, ID Cabasa pointed out the inaccuracies in the claim about live band performances, emphasizing the contributions of other musicians in pioneering the use of live bands in Nigerian music.
