Barcelona president reveals how Mbappe's signing will be a problem for Real Madrid
Barcelona president Joan Laporta in a recent interview has opened up on why Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid could be a huge challenge for the Los Blancos side.
Barcelona's president, Joan Laporta, has recently dismissed any notion of jealousy towards Real Madrid over their anticipated acquisition of PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe. Laporta, in fact, believes that the signing of the French forward could pose a problem for Los Blancos. Mbappe's much-discussed transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu is expected to take place this summer.
In a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, Laporta was asked whether he was envious of his club's bitter rivals. The Barcelona president responded by affirming his lack of resentment towards Real Madrid and further elaborated on his thoughts about Mbappe's potential impact at his new club. Laporta made reference to see how much in wages the French captain would be receiving and could not help but feel this would cause many problems in the dressing room.
He stated, “Not at all, not at all. Also, I don’t know if they will or won’t. We’ll see. No, I have intuition. They have a problem there. You have to sell a player (if Mbappé arrives), right? Because they are not going to play two starters in the same place. And speaking of the numbers, this distorts the locker room for sure. That’s not a gift.”
Laporta however has not been the onoly Barcelona executive to make this speculation, the club's sporting director Deco also spoke of the move indicating the need for tactical balance in any team.
