Chelsea confirms departure of first-team player in the January 2024 transfer window
Chelsea in an official statement has confirmed the departure of a first-team player on loan in the January 2024 transfer window.
The official statement which was shared by Chelsea today, Thursday, January 4, 2024, confirmed that the young midfielder Ian Matos who joined the first team from Norwich in the June 2023 transfer window will depart from the club to the championship side Huddersfield for the rest of the 2023/2024 club football season.
The official statement by the club read, "Alex Matos will spend the remainder of the campaign on loan at Championship side Huddersfield Town. The 19-year-old joined the Blues from Norwich City in the summer and quickly established himself in Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team squad. Matos, who is capable of playing in midfield or attack, made his Chelsea debut in our victory over Fulham in October and a second appearance came in the Carabao Cup win against Blackburn Rovers. He will now continue his development at Huddersfield, who sit 21st in the Championship. Good luck, Alex!"
Reports also indicate that this will not be the only player departure from Chelsea before the end of the January transfer window as The Blues are looking to sell players and re-enforce their attack for the second half of the season.
