Premier League set a date for Manchester City FFP trial
The Premier League has set a date with last season's treble winners, Manchester City for the club's Financial Fair Play (FFP) trial.
Manchester City have been accused of breaching 115 financial rules. Daily Mail confirmed on its website on Thursday, November 1, 2023, that a date for hearing has been initially scheduled for the late autumn of 2024.
However, it is understood that what has been a highly confidential process is currently at the stage where statements are being taken from witnesses which may likely extend the date of a final judgement. This means the case can run into 2025 before a decision will be made.
Manchester City are accused of breaching 115 regulations over 14 seasons from 2009-10 onwards. The charges include claims over financial reporting and a lack of cooperation with a Premier League investigation which was opened in 2018. The Cityzens have continued to maintain their innocence claiming they are not guilty of all that they have been accused
Recall that Everton had a ten-point deduction as a punishment for breaking the FFP rules, this makes the case against Manchester City interesting because everyone will be awaiting the final verdict. City risk points deduction, losing their trophies, a hefty fine or demotion from the Premier League if they are found guilty.
