Chelsea's manager, Mauricio Pochettino has spoken about what the team need to do when it comes to competing with the big teams in the league.

The Argentine was speaking in an interview on the official website of Chelsea. Mauricio Pochettino spoke about how the Blues are competing with the top teams in the Premier League, according to him, the team need to get back its first-team players who are currently on the injury list.

"First of all, we need to recover all the players, we have many injured players, key players that can't compete and train with us. And that is so important. You can see how different a club like Manchester City, the effect when there is no Rodri "the brain", and it is only one player. For us, we are missing many players, key players that can help to develop and improve the team faster. Yes, when we recover all the players, yes for sure, we will be ready to compete with big teams. Even now we need to believe that we can compete with the big teams."

He also spoke about the influence of Cole Palmer on the team and how he has been able to connect with the players around him.

" I think the team is doing really well. We don't concede too many goals and we start to score goals. In the midfield area, they have started to connect and create a good link. Palmer also is a good player that links teammates, and we are giving him a starting position on the right, but after he is free to play in-between the lines because he's ready to read what the team needs and to be unpredictable."

Chelsea struggled to find its form in the opening week of the season, losing three games in the league. However, the Blues won its last three consecutive games across all competitions.

The supporters of the club will hope this form can continue when they face Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
