Serie A side, Napoli has released an official statement to clear the air about the situation involving Victor Osimhen and the club.

The 2022/23 Serie A Champions released an official statement on its website on Thursday, September 28, 2023 stating that they had no intention to mock or humilate Victor Osimhen with the video they posted on Tiktok. According to them, the Super Eagles player is an asset to the club and he would be treated with respect.

"Calcio Napoli, wishing to avoid any exploitation of the issue, point out that we never wanted to offend or mock Victor Osimhen, who is a treasure of this club. As proof of that, during the summer training retreat, the Club firmly rebuffed every offer that was received for the striker’s transfer abroad.
Social media, in particular TikTok, has always used an expressive form of language with a light heart and creativity, without wanting to, as in the case with Osimhen as protagonist, have any intention of insult or derision. In any case, if Victor perceived any offence towards him, this was not what the club intended.”

Osimhen was furious after a video was posted on the club’s official TikTok account depicting him with a comical high voice appealing for a penalty against Bologna, which he then fired wide off the target.

The player's agent, Roberto Calenda threatened legal action against Napoli, while Osimhen removed almost all the images of himself in Napoli's jersey from his official Instagram account.
