Tobi Amusan qualifies for 100 meters World Championship hurdle final

World Champion Tobi Amusan booked her spot in the final of the 100-meter hurdles at the World Athletics Championship.

The Nigerian took a bold step in defending her title as she finished first in her semi-final heat with a time of 12.56 seconds to qualify for her third consecutive final. She finished ahead of Jamacian Achkara Nungent 12.60s and Dutch Nadine Visser 12.62s.

Amusan set the current world record for the women’s 100m hurdles of 12.12s at last year’s World Athletics Championships in Oregon and a world title that followed in a record time of 12.06s.

Recall that Amusan was cleared last week by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) after fears had emerged that the sprint champion would not be cleared in time to defend her title at the championship in Budapest.

However, a disciplinary panel cleared Amusan of any wrongdoing two days before the commencement of the championship.
