Arsenal Football Club have confirmed their first official signing of the 2023 summer transfer window ahead of the new season.

The Gunners announced the arrival of Kai Havertz from Chelsea Football Club. Arsenal's decision to sign the German international is because of their participation in the UEFA Champions League and this will need them to have squad depth.

Arsenal's manager Mikel Arteta explained that the reason the club decided to sign Havertz was because of the player's versatility, and also because of his intelligence.

Arteta believes Kai Harvertz is a great addition to the team. In his words, he said, "Kai is a player of top quality. He has great versatility and is an intelligent player. He will bring a huge amount of extra strength to our midfield and variety to our play. We welcome Kai and his family to Arsenal Football Club and we are all excited to start working with him when we start pre-season training soon."

There are reports that Havertz will be one of the highest-paid players on the club. He is expected to earn at least £210,000 per week. However, the Blues received a fee ranging from £70 million to £75 million.

The German international will forever be in the history of Chelsea having scored the winning goals in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City and the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup final.
