Why I decided to join Chelsea - Christopher Nkunku

The latest addition to Chelsea Football Club, Christopher Nkunku has sent his first message to supporters of the club ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Christopher Nkunku was speaking in his first interview which was revealed on the official website of Chelsea on Friday, June 23, 2023. The French International said the Chelsea project was one major reason that inspired him to join the club.

He said, the project was good for him and it will also help him develop as a footballer.

"I will give everything for the club, for the fans and to help the team bring some trophies. To give the best of my football. I hope I will make them as happy as I am to be here at this club.
It is a good project for me to develop myself as a player and a man also. I want to win trophies and improve myself also. So I think this is a good project for me at this moment. This is a good project, for sure.
I've not had a chance to speak to [Mauricio Pochettino], not yet. I spoke to some of my friends from Paris about him a little bit. They told me that he’s a very good coach and I’m excited to work with him."

The 25-year-old signed a six-year deal with the Blues which is expected to keep him at the club until the summer of 2029. He scored 35 goals in all competitions during the 2021/22 campaign and was named Bundesliga Player of the Season and German PFA Player of the Season.
