Former Arsenal FC Player Calls it Quit on Football
The former player of Arsenal Football Club, Mesut Ozil has announced his retirement from the beautiful game of football.
The German made the announcement on his official Twitter account on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023. He thanked everyone who has stood by his side from the beginning of his career for the past 17 years.
I want to thank Schalke, Werder, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Fenerbahçe and Basaksehir, all my friends in football. It was an amazing journey. Thank you to all ny fans who have shown my love. No matter the circumstances and no matter which club I represented.
Ozil will be remembered by football fans for the fantastic assists that he was able to create when he was playing top-flight football. He made his debut in the Bundesliga, where he had some eye-opening performances for both Schalke and Werder Bremen. He joined Real Madrid following his impressive performance at the FIFA World Cup in 2010, Ozil left the Bernabeau in 2013 to become Arsenal's record signing.
He went on to win the World Cup with Germany at the 2014 tournament which was hosted in Brazil. In 2015, he became the fastest player to reach 50 Premier League assists (141 appearances).
