An Overview of R2Bees Kiss your Hand (ft. Wande Coal)

Ghana and Nigeria have long enjoyed a fruitful musical chemistry. In history, the Highlife sound, prominent in Nigeria, was inspired by the music of Ghanaian artistes who'd long flown the banner, producing geniuses like E. T. Mensah who was credited with having made a huge impact on the sound of the recently departed Dr. Victor Olaiya and a host of other Nigerian Highlife enthusiasts.

In the contemporary times, the relationship is even more pronounced. Artistes from both countries are flit between both places, sharing influences and songs. Iconic songs have been birthed from this camaraderie. 2Face's "My Love" collaboration with iconic Hiplife group comes to mind. Sarkodie, by 2015, had collaborated with almost every Nigerian A - List artiste there was. His run (with Nigerian artistes) coincided with the timeline when one of the most iconic GH-Naija songs of all times, however.

R2Bees "Kiss Your Hand," off the 2009 Da Revolution project, is one for the golden times. A monster of a collaboration, it paired an instantly groovy beat with the unique voices and deliveries of all three artistes present. When this song was in its period of massive circulation, its first seconds threw listeners into a frenzy. It was a complete song, after all. From the aforementioned beat, to the "Ratata!" intro, to Mugeez's first verse, and then that iconic Wande Coal verse, which must have left the booth in fire after he'd recorded it.

Insider reports have it that Wande Coal had been in Ghana for a show. And he'd stopped by a studio, and his verse which would layered over the R2Bees beat was basically a freestyle. Talk about GOAT skill level.
