Messi told France Football, that the project that PSG was working on is the reason he decided to join them. The Argentine left the Catalan club during the summer transfer window after they failed to sign a new contract with the player.
According to Barcelona, the club was in crisis and the financial fair play rule in Spain was the reason why they could not renew Messi's contract.
I was lucky to be contacted by several clubs, including PSG. I am grateful to the club because from the start; they treated me very well. They showed they wanted me and took care of me. I thank them because I am very happy today. I received other offers, but we agreed with PSG quite quickly. I was won over by the project. The players it has, the quality of the group, all these elements made it easier to find an agreement.
He also said that the friends he had at the club also made his decision easier, knowing there are people he would relate to in the locker room.
Knowing that I had friends in the locker room allowed me to tell myself that things were going to be simple for me to adjust. And I was not wrong, because it was very easy to integrate myself, especially because many players speak Spanish like me.
Messi scored 672 goals for Barcelona in 778 games, winning 35 major honors with the club. Meanwhile, he has scored only a goal for PSG in 9 games.
