Joshua triggered a rematch against Usky after he lost the first fight in London. The Brit is expected to have the rematch in April 2022. Hearn was speaking in an interview which was reported on the website of Mirror boxing on Monday, December 6th, 2021.
We have had some approaches about this. No real deep conversations but just in regards to the concept, the concept being you let Fury and Usky fight for the undisputed and then fight the winner. Yesterday, Anthony said to me, just to sort of warn you, a step aside is everything I believe. All he wants to do is fight Oleksandr Usky and he trusts me. If some kind of plan comes up that is great financial package and more importantly gives him to more time to gel with a new partner and then go into a massive fight for huge money later in the year and I think that is right for his career then I should let him know. But he said, let me warn you, when you do that, you are under threat yourself because I don't want to do it.
Joshua has been training hard ahead of the rematch against Usky. The winner is expected to fight the undisputed number 1 boxer, Tyson Fury.
