Mlandege goes home with Tsh100 Million after beating Simba in the Mapinduzi Cup
Zanzibar-based football club, Mlandege FC received a total of Tshs 100 Million after beating Msimbazi football giants in the 2024 Mapinduzi Cup final match that took place in the new Amaan complex stadium in Zanzibar.
In the fixture which was played on Saturday, January 14, 2024, Mlandege's new player, Joseph Akandwanaho, scored the only goal in the 54th minute by skillfully getting past Simba's strong defense.
For their commendable effort, Mlandege FC walked away with the prestigious Tsh 100 million tournament bounty, while Simba received Sh70 million.

Zanzibar President Hussein Mwinyi himself bestowed the prizes upon the teams therefore marking the second time in a row that Mlandege has won the title.
Since its inception, the records indicate that Mainland Tanzania teams, particularly Azam FC (five titles), Simba SC (three titles), Yanga, and Mtibwa Sugar FC (each with two titles), have been the primary dominators of the Mapinduzi Cup, a tournament meant to celebrate and commemorate the famous Zanzibar revolution.
