AFCON 2023: Tanzania suffers a 3-0 shocking defeat at the hands of Morocco

In their inaugural match at the 2023 AFCON, the Tanzanian national team, widely recognized as Taifa Stars, faced a formidable welcome from Morocco, enduring a resounding 3-0 defeat.

Taifa Stars, initially considered the underdogs, had a lot to prove facing the top-ranked African team by FIFA rankings. 

Morocco broke the deadlock with Saiss scoring in the first half-hour. At halftime, Morocco held a narrow lead. The North African side extended their advantage in the 77th minute, and En-Nesyri sealed the scoring three minutes later.

With Novatus Miroshi receiving a red card in the 70th minute, Tanzania finished the match with ten players. Currently, Taifa Stars find themselves at the bottom of Group F, with Morocco leading. Other group members, Zambia and DRC, will play later today.
