Chelsea's Pochettino faces backlash following shocking statement on Sheffield United draw

Mauricio Pochettino has faced a huge backlash from fans following his unexpected statement about the Chelsea vs Sheffield United draw today.

Pochettino in his post-match press conference according to media outlets had categorized the Sheffield United vs Chelsea 2-2 draw as a fair result for the club stating that some of the key players of the squad had been tired into the game.

He said, "Very frustrating because we conceded in the first-half after we scored. Then you concede in the last few minutes, you always feel very disappointed and frustrated. I want to say the draw is a fair result. Even if we control and have possession, we didn't create enough. We didn't show the capacity to be solid and be strong. That is the painful situation. The first part of the season we were a little bit more solid but were not creating as much. Now we are scoring much but conceding more. It's difficult to find the balance. We tried adapting the situation with different players and different situations on the pitch. The team is not showing in the last few months the capacity to be solid. We score goals but we are conceding and that is why they punish us."

He went on to add when asked about if the players were tired that, "Of course they were tired. But that is not an excuse today to not win the game in the end. They can be tired, of course, that is why we have an unbelievable training centre to provide everything. But then it's about to be competitive and maybe I repeat too much but watching football like us, 52-years-old, you identify really quick whether the team is ready to compete or not. Maybe this group is not mature enough to compete in games every three days."

Fans were not pleased with the statement as Chelsea had taken the lead in the fixture twice and had failed to protect the lead on both occasions. The manager had also made substitutions which led to further questions from fans as to his desire to win fixtures at the club.
