Ancelotti was speaking at a press conference ahead of Real Madrid's first game after the Qatar 2022 World Cup which is against Vallodolid. He was asked if Messi was the best footballer in the history of football but he choose not to give a straight answer to the question, according to reports from Marca on Thursday, December 29th, 2022.
Difficult to say, I don't know if he's the best in history. It's not fair to say that, because each era has very good players. 'Messi is the best in history' won't come out of my mouth. I've enjoyed so many good players... I train the Ballon d'Or every day. And I've seen Cruyff, Maradona play.
