Nigerian music sensation, Inetimi Alfred Timaya, widely known as Timaya, has opened up about his foray into drug addict during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

In an exclusive interview with The Beat 99.9 FM on Thursday, February 8, 2024, the acclaimed singer candidly shared his experiences with substance abuse.

Timaya, famous for songs like Bum Bum and Dem Mama, confessed that although he's not perfect, he has experimented with drugs before. Thinking back on the unusual challenges of the lockdown, he remembered meeting some young guys who seemed surprisingly happy during that time.

As someone who's in charge of his own successful career and has a lot of money, Timaya got curious about why some young guys he knew were so happy. He found out they were using a strong drug called Molly. Curious about what it was like, Timaya tried it himself.

Timaya admitted that when he first tried the drug, it made him feel really good, and he ended up giving away a lot of his money without thinking much about it. But then he started noticing some bad effects. He began losing a lot of weight, and he realized it was because he was taking three pills of the drug every day.

Timaya's story highlights the difficulties that famous people encounter and the temptation to escape from problems during uncertain times. His honesty reminds us all about the importance of reaching out for help and support when we're going through tough times, no matter who we are or how successful we may seem.
