Fireboy DML reveals he tried to copy Beyoncé's moves, but failed

Popular Nigerian singer, Fireboy DML has candidly shared his past attempt to emulate the stage performance of American pop icon, Beyoncé, acknowledging his inability to match the prowess of the multiple Grammy winner.

Reflecting on his journey as an artist, Fireboy disclosed his early struggles and aspirations to perform in front of large audiences. In an interview with RollingStone that surfaced online on Tuesday, April 22, 2024, he revealed his longstanding practice of envisioning himself on stage while composing his songs.

"Right from time, even when I used to write my saddest songs, I used to imagine myself playing them in front of millions of people. I always imagine myself on stage when I write my songs," Fireboy stated.

Despite his initial setbacks, Fireboy emphasized his commitment to personal growth and development as an artist. He outlined his approach of infusing energy from the studio into his live performances, prioritizing enjoyment and audience engagement.

Acknowledging his attempt to emulate Beyoncé's stage routine, Fireboy admitted the challenge of sustaining it, remarking, "There was a time I tried to copy Beyoncé’s routine. But I didn’t last two days."
