Davido in his latest interview session with Carterefe has revealed shocking details about his viral song, B4 B4 on his album, 'Oriade.'
Davido has shared the unexpected story behind one of the standout tracks on his sixth studio album, Oriadé, revealing that “B4 B4” was never originally meant to be his song.
Speaking during a recent interview, the Afrobeats superstar disclosed that the record initially belonged to fellow Nigerian artists Mayorkun and FOLA. According to Davido, the duo had already completed the song before Mayorkun reached out and invited him to contribute a verse.
“They put me on the song. Na Mayorkun & FOLA at first, then Mayorkun sent it to me that he wants me on the song. When I did my verse, Mayorkun said I can have it for my album,” Davido explained.
The revelation offers fans a glimpse into the collaborative nature of the Nigerian music industry, where songs can evolve significantly before their official release.
Davido also admitted that “B4 B4” almost didn’t make the final tracklist for Oriadé. He revealed that the album had already been completed and he was undecided about including the song until a member of his team stepped in with some convincing advice.
“I had already finished the album and I wasn’t sure if ‘B4 B4’ would get on it. But Israel DMW said, ‘Oga the song sweet oh, abeg.’ But at least he didn’t leak it like ‘Flex My Soul,’” Davido joked, drawing laughter with a playful reference to a previous incident involving his longtime aide.
The comments have sparked fresh conversation among fans, many of whom have praised “B4 B4” as one of the highlights of Oriadé. Davido’s revelation also shines a light on Mayorkun’s role in the song’s journey, from its original recording with FOLA to eventually becoming part of Davido’s latest album.
