Ayra Starr unveils artwork and track list for sophomore album

Nigerian sensation, Ayra Starr, recognized for her Grammy-nominated talent, has set the music world abuzz with the revelation of artwork and tracklist for her highly anticipated sophomore album, The Year I Turned 21.

Surprising her fans with the unveiling on her social media platforms on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, the singer was pictured against a highway backdrop, leaning on a vintage car, Starr exuded confidence and style.

Announcing the availability of the album for pre-order, Starr revealed that The Year I Turned 21, also known as TYIT21, is set for an official release on May 31, 2024.

Among those eagerly awaiting the album is fellow Nigerian music star, Wizkid, who showed his support by reposting Starr's artwork unveiling with a tag of approval, Love it.

Reportedly, the album boasts collaborations with heavyweight talents from across the globe, including Nigeria's Asake and Seyi Vibes, America's Giveon and Coco Jones, and Brazil's Anitta, among others.

Starr's journey to musical stardom began with a career in fashion at the age of 16 before pivoting to music. Her breakthrough came in December 2019 when she caught the attention of renowned record executive, Don Jazzy with her original song postings on Instagram, leading to her signing with Marvin Records.

In 2022, Starr achieved mainstream international acclaim with her hit song Rush, which charted in various countries, including Switzerland, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. The track earned her a nomination at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for Best African Music Performance, solidifying her status as a rising star in the industry.

With Rush, Starr made history as the youngest African female artist to surpass 100 million views on a single YouTube video within five months, marking a significant milestone in her burgeoning career.
