Who is Tottenham Hotspur's New Manager?

Tottenham Hotspur has confirmed the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as its new first-team head coach becoming the first Australian to manage a Premier League club.

The North London club confirmed the appointment on its official website on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023. He signed a four-year deal that will keep him at White Hart Lane until at least the summer of 2027.

Who is Ange Postecoglou?

The 58-year-old started his career as a footballer in South Melbourne Hellas’s academy and went on to play for the first team, including winning four caps for the national team between 1985-88. He began coaching at South Melbourne, becoming the first-team coach in 1996.

He was appointed the head coach of rge Australia's senior national team in 2013, his four years. During that time he led them to the 2014 FIFA World Cup, winning the AFC Asian Cup in 2015 and securing qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

He became the first Australian manager to coach a top club in Europe when he joined Celtic in June 2021. Ange won the Scottish League and Cup double in his first season and delivers the treble, the Scottish Premiership, Scottish League Cup, and Scottish Cup in 2022/23.

The last season was clouded by Antonio Conte's post-match interview after the game against Southampton. Spurs led the game 3-1 for most of the game. The match ended 3-3 which left the Italian furious by calling out the players for their lack of discipline.

Tottenham Supporters will hope that he can bring his coaching experience to the Premier League as they will be looking to forget the ghosts of the 2022/23 season.
