UEFA apologised to both Real Madrid and Liverpool fans in the statement that was released on the official website of the body on Friday, June 3rd, 2022. According to reports from the stadium on the day of the final, the French Police were seen on camera tear gassing some Liverpool fans as they tried to get entrance into the Stadium.

UEFA wishes to sincerely apologise to all spectators who had to experience or witness frightening and distressing events in the build-up to the UEFA Champions League final at the Stade de France on 28 May 2022 in Paris, on a night which should have been a celebration of European club football. No football fan should be put in that situation, and it must not happen again. The Review will seek to establish a full picture and timeline of what occurred during the day, both within the stadium and the surrounding areas, including examining spectator flows to the stadium via the various access points.

The awful event of the day did not disturb football fans around the world from seeing the classical gale between both teams. Real Madrid emerged Champions winning the game 1-0, the victory was the 14th Champions League title for the Galacticos.
