The Super Eagles retained its position in the latest ranking released by the body governing football in the world, FIFA. The Nigerian team are currently placed 34th in the world and fifth in Africa.

FIFA released the ranking on its official website on Thursday, September 16th, 2021. Senegal are the highest-ranked team in Africa as they are placed 20th, Tunisia are ranked 25th in the world and third in Africa.
African Champions, Morocco, are currently ranked 30th in the World, and Morocco are ranked 33rd in the world and fourth in Africa.
Super Eagles opponents at the 2021 AFCON group, Guinea-Bissau, are ranked 105th in the world, while Egypt and Sudan are ranked 48th and 127th, respectively.
