Barcelona's forward player, Robert Lewandowski has surpassed the goal-scoring record of Real Madrid's striker, Karim Benzema.

The Polish striker scored a hat-trick in Barcelona's opening group game against Viktoria Plzen at the Camp Nou. Lewandowski was equal on the same number of goals as Benzema, the duo had scored 86 goals before the start of this season.
Lewandowski has now scored 89 goals in the competition following his goals against Plzen. He also wrote his name in the history books of the competition as he became the first player to score a hat trick for three different clubs in the Champions League.
The 34-year-old scored one hat-trick for Borussia, and four for Bayern Munich and has opened his record for Barcelona.
